Welcome to

Neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed therapy in South Birmingham and the UK

Hello, I’m Rebecca, a neurodiversity-affirming trauma-informed therapist offering counselling in South Birmingham and online throughout the UK.
Whether you've had counselling before or if it's new to you, finding a new counsellor can feel like an uncertain process. You might have a clear sense of what it is that you want to talk about, or you might want some help in figuring out what you're feeling and why. Wherever you're starting, we can work together and you can just show up as you are - all of you is welcome!
It can be hard to know where to start, and you may be apprehensive about potentially sharing with someone you don't yet know. This is why I offer a free 15-minute "get to know each other" chat online or on the phone, so that you can get a sense of me and how we might work together, to ask any questions you might have, and so that I can find out a little about you.

I've been working within psychology, mental health, and wellbeing for more than 20 years and I am deeply passionate about supporting people on their individual paths.
I see you as the expert on your own experience and myself as a warm, compassionate, and understanding companion to be alongside you as you explore areas of challenge and growth. I aim to practice in a way that is affirming of neurodiversity, cultural, sexual, and gender diversity.
I am experienced in helping people to work with a range of issues (see below). As an AuDHD therapist, I specialise in working with people who are neurodivergent (including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia) and with people who have trauma-related issues.

Duration
Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
Frequency
Sessions are usually held weekly at the same time and day of the week. This allows us to build a rapport together, developing a connection that helps you to feel safer in exploring your issues more deeply.
Weekly sessions at the same time and day each week do not work for everyone, however. You may need some flexibility around scheduling and frequency, so this is something we can discuss.
Cost
Sessions cost £60 per hour. I ask that payment is made in advance of the session. I am happy to discuss this if this would cause you any difficulty.
Concessionary rate sessions are available for students, trainee counsellors, and individuals with a low income. Please get in touch with me to discuss.
Cancellations
I require 48 hours’ notice for cancellation of appointments. This allows meenough time to re-book the cancelled appointment slot and avoid unnecessary disruption. It also provides an opportunity for those on the waiting list to be accommodated. If an appointment is not cancelled within this period, the full session fee will be charged.
